Tyrant of the Seas is the 14th chapter of the "Shuumatsu no Valkyrie: Record of Ragnarok" manga series.

Summary[]

Two Gods in the stands talk about how awesome Zeus vs. Adam was, especially considering that Adam was a Human. They're both hyped for the next fight before they make a comment on how this is quite the scenery change. It is shown that the entire arena is covered in water with a podium at the center. One of the Gods tastes it and identifies it as seawater, becoming shocked when they realize what that means. Heimdall announces that, following on from Humanity's second loss, the third round will now begin. Heimdall questions to the Gods why they would even present another challenge to these poor Humans, guessing that is what makes them Gods in the first place, before introducing the Gods' third representative.

Poseidon Spliting The Sea

Poseidon enters the arena for the Third Round by splitting the waters in two

The entrance to the Gods' side opens and the water begins rushing in. Waiting at the bottom of the stairs, the third representative for the Gods stomps his foot, causing the water to split to create a path. As he walks up the stairs, Heimdall says that, if Zeus is the God Father of Cosmos, then this God rules over the oceans with an iron fist.

Heimdall calls him the "Tyrant of the Seas" and adds that the Gods fear invoking his wrath. The "Most Fearsome God", the second of the three brothers of Olympus, the man known as Zeus Enalios. The third representative for the Gods is none other than Poseidon. As he steps onto the podium, Poseidon looks around and calls all that he sees, filth. Watching, Loki notes that Poseidon is even less receptive to his jokes than Odin. Heimdall then questions who is Humanity's strongest swordsman. Is it Yoshitsune Minamoto, the Demon of Mt. Kurama? Or Nobutsuna Kamiizumi, founder of the Shinkage-Ryu school?

Kojiro enters the arena

Kojiro Sasaki enters the arena for the Third Round

Or possibly even, Matashirou Takayanagi, the "Silent Samurai" of the Edo period? Heimdall disagrees with it being any of them and claims that the third representative for Humanity is the strongest swordsman. As he rides to the podium in a small boat, Heimdall questions to Humanity why this loser stands at the peak. Is it because of his secret technique, Tsubame Gaeshi? Or perhaps his intense drive for revenge against Musashi Miyamoto? No!! Even in defeat, he advances. Even in death, he takes a step further. Even now, he pursues true mastery of the blade. The third representative for Humanity, its greatest loser, Kojiro Sasaki.

Humanity are confused and Iori Miyamoto in particular, is enraged that Kojiro has been chosen to represent Humanity after losing to his father. Seijuro Yoshioka and Inshun Hozoin agree while Musashi stays silent. Göll points out that Humanity don't seem to be happy about this.

Musashi Miyamoto Enlightened

Musashi Miyamoto crying at the sight of Kojiro Sasaki achieving true enlightenment

But Brunhilde decides to believe in Kojiro's endless pursuit of the blade. After Kojiro unsheathes his Monohoshizao, the raging waters instantly turn still. Musashi, Seijuro and Inshun stare wide-eyed. Ares questions in fear who that Human is and Hermes calls it a pleasant surprise. Loki states that Humanity seems to still have some cards up their sleeve. Iori doesn't believe Kojiro actually did that, only for Musashi to cut up the texts of the Five Rings that Iori holds. He says they are no longer needed as what he is seeing is the true form of enlightenment. Right now, Kojiro has become unrivaled under the heavens. Round 3 of Ragnarok – Poseidon vs. Kojiro Sasaki.
